Having lived a full life right up to his late eighties, my father could never be regarded as your typically crusty old man or a geriatric bow-backed weakling who could barely shuffle forward with his walker. That harsh and clear description is reserved for the thousands of men and women who managed to live that long but gave up earlier on in life to the degree that as their minds began to waiver and lose focus, the bodies that are also designed to hold them together slowly began to crumble before their eyes. Here is a story about a typical Middle American girl, at least in image and actions anyway, who may have positively influenced the lives of thousands more American women and others from around the world.
I am not one who normally and readily talks about other women, mainly because I truly don’t have much interest in their lives and don’t conform to the allegedly necessary convention of our innate (female) human condition to gossip readily about others. Because many of you have chosen to follow these, most of you are privy to the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Or so you thought. Now, I was giving this some thought since yesterday evening after learning that forty-year old superstar Leonardo Di Caprio had won yet another award for his apparently astounding performance in the multi-award winning (so far) film The Revenant. I mention Mr. Di Caprio in this instance because I was recently caught up in an interview he gave to a glossy women’s magazine journalist. I am also the proud mother of a sparkling and darling young lady who is taking herself to places that I dared not imagine when I was her age. I never specifically told you that I was single.
